Stage is set for tomorrow’s battle of the Touch giants

Concrete Cowboys recorded two wins in last week’s Opens Touch double-header round.

 The Battle of the Giants will take place tomorrow night in Round 9 of the Opens Mixed Touch competition at Ward Oval.

The two unbeaten teams of the competition, Makos and Blossoms, will finally meet in the last game of the regular competition with the winner of this match to claim the minor premiership title.

Along with both sides recording wins last week in their Rounds 7 and 8 double-header matches, Concrete Cowboys also finished the night with two wins.

The Cowboys accounted for Phat Athletes
9-6 and Rock Dogs 4-0.

Neve Carter led the scoring for Cowboys in their first win against Phat Athletes, contributing four points to their tally with her two tries.

Aiden Swan also touched down twice with Ryan Urquhart, Toby Greenwood and Charlie Crotty adding a point each with their tries.

Aiden and Toby also scored a try each in their second match against Rock Dogs along with team mates Chris Crotty and James Anderson.

Makos also cleaned up the Rock Dogs, winning their Round 7 game, 10-2.

Rhylee Jeffery led the try scoring for Makos with three touchdowns, Jack Brown crossed twice and Nathan McAndrew and Thomas Plater added the extras with a try each.

Kai McCosker was responsible for Rock Dogs’ two points.

Makos had to work hard for their 4-1 win over Rusty Snails in their Round 8 game.

Jack Brown (2) and Codi Ellison  were Makos’ point scorers, while Rusty Snails’ lone point came from Ethan McLeod.

Rusty Snails also tested Blossoms in their Round 7 game last week.

After holding a narrow 2-l lead at half time, Blossoms went on to score five points to the Snails’ two points in the second half to finish as 7-3 winners.

Oisin McMullen crossed for a double for Blossoms with Sosie Barton also contributing two points to their final tally with her try.

Jack Dunn, Jackson Muldoon and Jaxon Burke were responsible for Blossoms’ other tries.

Ethan McLeod, with three touchdowns, was Rusty Snails only try scorer.

Blossoms had an easy 8-3 win in their late game with Full Tilt.

Ella Oborn (3 tries) and Norma Mugugia led the Blossoms to their win with Brennan Auckett and Chloe Leetham Full Tilt’s try scorers.

Full Tilt grabbed a 6-0 win over Kiss My Pass in their other game; Kiss My Pass won their late game 5-3 over Fast Fades; Fast Fades recorded a win in their other game with Guns N Hoses 2-0; and Guns N Hoses finished the night with a win, beating Phat Athletes 6-3 in their Round 8 match up.
