Cobar residents can expect the hot temperatures to continue as a second week of 35 degrees plus weather is forecast.
The late February heatwave will see temperatures up to nine degrees above average this week.
Today is expected to reach 40 degrees while a top of 42 degrees is forecast tomorrow, nine degrees above the expected February average of 33 degrees.
Friday will be slightly cooler with a top of 35 degrees predicted, with the slight chance of a shower in the afternoon.
Saturday and Sunday will also be hot, reaching 36 degrees the hot weather is set to continue into early next week with Monday heading for a top of 36 degrees with the chance of a shower.
The hot weather comes on the back of above average temperatures recorded in the past week, with 35 degrees last Friday, 37 degrees on Saturday and 38 on Sunday.
Monday also hit 38 degrees, meaning if next week’s forecasts prove true, Cobar will have experienced 10 days straight of 35 degrees-plus temperatures.
The hottest day this month so far was February 14, where the temperature reached 41.5 degrees.
However it looks unlikely that the record for hottest February day ever will be broken, with that record set in 2004 with a top temperature of 46.1 degrees.
