Rotary Club of Cobar provides support to small schools

As part of an ongoing program to assist local schools during the current Covid 19 disruption to school programs, the Rotary Club of Cobar has reached out to two re-mote small schools near Cobar.
Working with the Rotary Club of Penrith Valley in Sydney and the Dubbo Rotary Club, they rolled out the ‘School in a Box’ program to the Hermidale and Louth schools last week.
Rotary Club of Cobar secretary Gordon Hill said the principals of both schools were appreciative of being included in the program which provides stationary resources to assist students to learn basic skills.
“The principals were also invited to identi-fy additional items that could be added to the kits to assist their students to learn,” Mr Hill said.
“The ‘School in a Box’ kits were valued at $270 each and were purchased locally and presented to the students and staff of both schools last week by the president of Cobar Rotary Club David Snelson.”
Mr Hill said the ‘School in a Box’ project for remote schools follows on from an earlier program rolled out by the Rotary Club of Cobar which provided Home Learning Kits valued at over $2,500 to Cobar Public and St John’s schools during the pandemic lock-down period in August this year.
