Two weeks out from the end of the regular Castlereagh Youth League competition, the young Cobar Roosters team has already wrapped up the Minor Premiership title.
A 38-18 win for the Cobar Roosters over Gulgong on Saturday at Gulgong secured them the title as no other team can overtake them on the points table.
Cobar is well out in front on 25 points with Narromine in second spot on 19 and Gulgong is just behind in third place on 17 points.
Binnaway is well back in 4th position on 12 points.
Cobar takes on 4th placed Binnaway this Saturday and will have a bye the following week for the final round of the regular competition.
Reece Josephson was again the star on the field for the Roosters this week with Josephson scoring 18 points of their 38 point tally.
Josephson touched down for three tries and kicked three conversions in the match.
Roosters team mates Jaxon Burke, Jayden Greenwood, Jayden Paul and Aiden Swan also crossed for tries in Cobar’s win.
Paul earned the team’s Best & Fairest three points, Swan collected two points and one point went to Josephson.
Greenwood was voted Players’ Player.
Coach Paul Sullivan suggested there was a bit of luck once again involved in this week’s win.
“We were lucky to have plenty of players this week including Reece Josephson and also Zane Jenner [from Coonabarabran].
“Having a full side really makes a big difference.”
Sullivan said the team was also lucky to have a great support crew behind them which includes team manager Claud Parisi, team advisor Tommy Good and parent helpers Genie and Ambie McMullen.
