Following their 10-6 win over Dunedoo on Saturday at Dunedoo, the Cobar Junior Rugby League Under 16s team is sitting in second spot on the competition ladder.

Their Round 5 match at Bowen Oval, Coolah on Saturday was played in overcast conditions.

Lachie Brookman opened the scoring for Cobar in the 13th minute with Cohan Nicholson missing the conversion to take a 4-0 lead and the score was unchanged at half time.

The damp and muddy conditions made for a messy and tough game but the Cobar boys were handling it better than their hosts.

Aiden Hyland crossed in the 43rd minute to score for the Roosters and Nicholson’s successful conversion took their lead out to 10-0.

The Cobar boys kept Dunedoo scoreless until the 46th minute when the home side scored a converted try to narrow the margin to 10-6.

Cobar held on to finish with the well-earned win.

Cobar’s Best & Fairest points were shared between Eli Martin, Lachie Brookman and Cohan Nicholson.

The Coaches Award went to Jack Allan and the team’s Players’ Player was Corey Piggot.

With a few niggling injuries among some of the team, the boys are looking forward to the general bye this Saturday in the hope a full squad can return fit and heathy for their Round 6 match in a fortnight…Full report in this weeks edtion.
