After a lacklustre first half, the Cobar Roosters First Grade side fought back to beat the visiting Coonabarabran Unicorns 38-22 in their Round 5 Christie & Hood Castlereagh League match at Tom Knight Memorial Oval on Saturday.
Coonabarabran controlled most of the first half of the game scoring four quick tries within the opening 16 minutes to take an early 22-0 lead.
It wasn’t until the 31st minute that Roosters’ captain/coach Tom Plater opened Cobar’s account with a converted try.
Tyler Coughlan crossed again soon after for Cobar’s second, which Plater also converted, to close the margin to 22-12 going into the half time break.
Plater must have had plenty to say in the shed during the break as the Roosters came out firing and took control of the score board in the second half to run in five more tries and halt the Unicorns from adding any further points…Full report in this week’s edition out now!
