Cobar Arts Council once again hosted world renowned pianist Roman Rudnytsky, who played to an intimate audience at the Services Club last Tuesday night. Roman is

Cobar Arts Council’s ‘Cruisin with Roman’ musical evening was enjoyed by all who boarded the SS Cobar Star last Tuesday night.

The “ship” docked early at the Services Club wharf and it’s reported all passengers navigated the gangway without falling overboard.

They were seated in the ‘Captain’s Lounge’ (aptly decorated with all things nautical) and were kept entertained by a program that featured internationally renowned concert pianist Roman Rudnytsky along with local piano students and dancers.

Ship’s Purser, Bev Anderson, welcomed everyone, outlined the evening’s entertainment and introduced six local student pianists (Amber Whittaker-Goodwin, Raymond Jones, Ebony Aumua, Maddie Chaplain, James McClure and Julia McClure) whose performances were enthusiastically received.

Captain Lillian Simpson welcomed the special guest, Roman Rudnytsky, who performed the first half of this program with informative snippets about each composer’s piece.

Mrs Anderson, Cobar Arts Council’s publicity officer, reported the Copper City Dance Centre’s Elite Modern group presented a
skillfully choreographed dance item followed by a delightful performance of the Western Studio of Performing Arts 8-10 years ballet group.

“After a scrumptious supper, Roman performed his final bracket to conclude the evening,” Mrs Anderson said.

“Cobar Arts Council gratefully acknowledged the support of all those who attended and the generous assistance of Cobar Shire Council and the Cobar Memorial Services Club manager and staff for enabling an event of this calibre to occur.”
