Local golfer Robynne Morton had a wonderful week both on and off the golf course.
Not only did she clean up to win both the Wednesday and Sunday women’s golf events but she also celebrated a birthday and was joined by her daughter visiting from New Zealand.
Morton was presented with the Marie McManus Memorial Trophy on Sunday by Jane McManus after she blitzed the field and won with 40 Stableford points.
Susan Goonrey put up a good fight to be three points back in second place on 37.
Chrissy Gilligan was next with 34.
Geraldine Francisco and Sally Bannister were separated by a countback when both ladies scored 33 points.
Pam Sikora rounded out the top six players with 31 points.
Nearest the pins prizes were awarded to Chrissy Gilligan (2), Sally Bannister, Barb Barklimore and Pat Polack.
Morton also won Wednesday’s Stableford event with 32 points.
Geraldine Francisco was the runner-up with 30 points followed by Ann Dunn (24) and Pam Sikora (23) in what was pretty hard going as the scores reflect.
Francisco and Dunn were closest to the pins on the 7th and 15th holes respectively.
Saturday’s 6th Monthly Medal prize went to Chrissy Gilligan who posted a round of 71 net.
Sally Bannister came in with 73 net while Barb Barklimore took 3rd position with 74 net and was also the best player on the greens with just 22 putts for the round.
Gloria Hay was next with 76 net followed by Janine Ryan (77 net) before a 3-way countback was needed between Lize Stander, Glenis Prisk and Elaine Burton after all came in with 78 net.
A stroke game is on today with the Cobar Vets Day set down for Friday with a 9am start.
Saturday is a Stableford game and on Sunday all eyes will be on the weather hoping the postponed Foursomes Club Championships can go ahead. It will be played over 27 holes with a 10am start.—T’d Off
