Red Hot Chilli Steppers were at the top of their game

Red Hot Chilli Steppers finished as 12-3 winners over The Blossoms in their Round 5 Open Mixed Touch match on Thursday night at Ward Oval. On past form in this season’s competition, the match was expected to have been a much closer affair, however the
Chilli Steppers were at the top of their game demonstrating plenty of the skills that earned them the premiership last season.

Conditions at Ward Oval on Thursday night were prime for some big scores in the Mixed Open Touch competition.

Cool weather, an immaculate ground and subs aplenty resulted in a total of 64 points being scored for the night.

Three out of the four matches were one-sided games.

On past form, the match between Red Hot Chilli Steppers and The Blossoms was expected to be a close one, however the Chilli Steppers were at the top of their game last week and they easily accounted for The Blossoms 12-3.

Sophie Clark led the scoring for the Chilli Steppers with her three tries worth six points (as female tries are worth double points).

Jack Brown also crossed for three tries for Chilli Steppers with Brennah Aumua and Loma Atuau adding a try each to their tally.

Points for The Blossoms came from a try each to Sosie Barton and Jaxon Burke.
