Cobar Amateur Pistol Club members represented Cobar at the Dubbo Pistol Club Western Plains Championships over the weekend.
Six disciplines were shot on Saturday and Sunday with each of the four Cobar competitors earning a top three placing in their respective grades.
In the Centrefire Sports Match, Tim Turton and Chris Driver both recorded second placings.
Lidija Garbutt was first place in the 25m Pistol event.
In the 10m Air Pistol event, Turton claimed a first place with a grade break (when a shooter achieves the minimum score required for that grade); Michael Garbutt and Lidija Garbutt both placed first in their grades and Chris Driver came in second in his grade.
In the 50m Pistol event, Turton was first (with another grade break) and Michael Garbutt was third.
In the 25m Standard Pistol event, Turton finished in first place and Michael Garbutt was second while Michael Garbutt was first and Turton placed third in the 25m Rapid Fire event.
At the Cobar club’s 10m Air Pistol event on the home range on Sunday morning, there were only two members competing.
Jason Holmgreen shot 423 off pistol and, with his handicap of 113, finished with a total score of 536.
Geoff Passfield shot 312 off pistol and, with his handicap of 307, finished with a total score of 619 (and a new handicap of 260).
Visitor Roy Butler (State Member for Barwon) joined the club members for the 25m Centre Fire shoot at the range on Thursday night.
Butler shot 293 off pistol and, with his starting handicap of 350, finished with a total score of 643 (and earned a new handicap of 276).
