Friday night saw the debut of the new Peak team, New Golden Ducks, up against the revamped Paddy’s Pack.
Peak won the toss and elected to bat first, losing a wicket in a run out in their first over to be 1/2, and with a second run out in the next over Peak were 2/4 and Paddy’s Pack were proving to be on top of their game.
When D. Proudlove struck in the next consecutive over with the wicket of one of Peak’s danger men Vikram Purohit for 10, and another wicket, Peak were reeling at 4/23 in the fifth over.
Ex-Cobar Cowboy Dean Botten steadied the Peak ship scoring an unbeaten 44 while wickets continued to tumble around him with Mark Gilbert (11) staying at the crease for nine overs with him to eventually see out the 20 overs for a score of 8/92.
Bowling for Paddy’s Pack saw Marc Anderson finish with 3/18, D. Proudlove 2/11 and Brad Harris 1/14.
Paddy’s Pack started the run chase slowly and, when the first wicket fell in the third over, they were 1/6.
When Tom Budd was out for 11 Paddy’s Pack were 2/18 from five overs.
Damien Pumpa and Brad Harris combined to take the score to 42 when Pumpa was out for 18 in the eighth over.
With Harris continuing to bat well he eventually fell for 31 and along with Paddy Harris (12 not out) saw Paddy’s Pack finish their 20 overs to be 6/103 for their first win of the season.
Bowling for the Peak saw Dasha Warren with the best figures of 2/14 and a wicket each to Chris Higgins, Andrew Bryan and Greg Bowkett.
