There was a large gathering of representatives of local sporting and community groups at Orana Community Mutual’s Community Partnership annual event on Tuesday night at the Services Club.
Cobar Preschool, Cobar Junior Rugby League and the Cobar Branch of the RSPCA were just a few of the 29 groups to receive an annual bonus from the Community Partnerships Program (CPP).
Orana Community Mutual Cobar branch manager Kelly Fairbank said it was wonderful to see how much their Community Partnerships donations had increased over the past 12 months.
“We have grown from 247 supporters to 326 which then in turn has meant an increase in the funds we can give to organisations.
“This year we are giving out as an organisation $481,000, and of that in Cobar, $17,807.44,” Ms Fairbank said.
She said it was important for local sporting and charity organisations to work together to support each other and through the program, the community can choose how to use Community Mutual’s profits to assist with what they do in their organisations.
“It’s a great way of empowering communities to make their interests sustainable through the power of collaboration,” Ms Fairbank said.
