

The Nymagee community put on a spectacular show on Saturday with the many creative talents of the community on display at the 2025 Nymagee CWA Flower Show.
The event showcased much more than flowers with cooking, photography, and craft items also on display along with stalls, exhibits by businesses, live music and a wonderful display of vintage cars.
“We pulled off an amazing flower show and I’m so proud of everyone’s hard work,” Nymagee Country Women’s Association president Lyn Harley said.
Lyn praised all the volunteers, stewards and judges who gave their time along with the stall holders and businesses who travelled to take part, saying they brought a lot of life and interest to the day.
“We could not do it without their support,” Lyn said.
“The fashion parade by Evve Collective, and our brave models were the highlight of the day.”
Award winning author, motivational speaker and member of the Enngonia Country Women’s Association, Heather Cameron, had the honour of opening this year’s Flower Show.
Adding to the day’s entertainment was a parade of vintage, historic and classic vehicles, with seven of the eight cars owned by Nymagee resident Ken Dunne.
Stuart and Margot Jeffery also exhibited their classic car along with a Fergie tractor.
“We were delighted to be able to get up close to these amazing pieces of history,” Lyn said.
The 2025 Nymagee Flower Show major trophy winners included Bev Ellison and Jenny Nicholson who shared the Diane Roach Memorial Trophy for the Most Successful Exhibitor in the Flower Section.
The Nance Fennemore Memorial Trophy for Champion Cut Flower went to Megan Nicholson and the Joan White Memorial Trophy for Best Geranium was won by Jenny Nicholson.
In the Cooking Section the Mrs Noel Read Memorial Trophy for Best Sponge was earned by Jenny Nicholson.
The Gloria Hardwick Memorial Trophy for a Handicraft Item made by an Exhibitor over 70 years went to Gwen Dunne.
Other results from the day were: In the Roses, Cut Flowers and Decorative section, the winners were: Champion Rose—Jenny Nicholson; Champion Multiple Bloom—Bev Ellison; Champion Pot plant—Jenny Nicholson; Best in Decorative Section-Floral Art—Celeste Whitbread; Most Successful in Flower Section—Bev Ellison/Jenny Nicholson.
Jack Bender had the Most Outstanding Exhibit in the Miscellaneous, Scrapbooking, Card Making, Painting & Drawing section and he also won the Best Recycled Item section as well.
The Most Successful Exhibitor in Miscellaneous was Bev Ellison.
Bev also had the Most Outstanding Exhibit in Handicraft.
Gwen Dunne was named the Most Successful Exhibitor in Handicraft Overall and also had the Best Handicraft Exhibited by a Person over 70 Years.
The Most Successful Exhibitor in Photography was Carrie Ann Martin.
In the Children’s Work section, the winners were: Most Outstanding Item (child 4yrs and under)—Darra Martin; Most Outstanding Item (child 5-12yrs)—Ruby Martin; Most Outstanding Item (child 13-16yrs)—Sienna Bortolussi; and the Most Outstanding Exhibit (the most creative from all sections) belonged to Ruby Martin.
The Most Successful Exhibit in Fruit, Veg & Produce came from Sarah Weston with Rossi Hague exhibiting the Most Outstanding Cereal.
The Cooking section winners were: Best Fruit Cake—Gail Sutton; Best Sponge—Jenny Nicholson; Best Steamed Plum Pudding—Katrina Bolam; Best Jar of Pickles/Relish/Chutney—Kym Sutton; Best Jar of Jam/Lemon Butter—Heather Cameron; and Janice Collins was the Most Successful Exhibitor in Cooking.
In the Children’s cooking, the Most Successful Exhibitor in Junior 9-14 years class was Riva Hague while the Most Successful Exhibitor in the Mini Juniors (8 years and under) division was Macca Nicholson.
“We have a wonderful little community that gets in and helps and we can pull of some pretty incredible events when we all work together,” Lyn said.
