Aided by some recent cool water training in Antarctica, Paul Swainston topped the winner’s list at the Cobar Yabbies Senior Men’s Swimming Club event last week.

Swainston won the opening event of the night, the 30 metres handicapped freestyle swim, after he finished within 0.06 seconds of his nominated time.

Bob Clark, who’d been training at the beach, was further back on 0.17 seconds and Dave Mexted (who doesn’t have to train) was third on 0.19.

Josh Mainey laid down the law to the field of 13 in the 50m event winning with a sensational time of 0.03 seconds off his nominated time.

Tom Jones finished second on 0.07 and Jason Toomey was back in third spot on 0.12.

Bill Fugar, now with two new knees, finished in front of a very congested 100m field.

Fugar clocked 0.63 seconds off his time to win with Shane Josephson second on 0.68 and Mexted was third on 0.75.

Mainey and Jones were back on the podium after they won the Brace Relay novelty event.

The pair were only 0.29 seconds off their time estimation for the sideways walk across the pool.

Mexted and Fugar teamed up to grab second place, with 0.88 seconds off their combined time and Josephson and Mainey (whom swam twice) were third on 1.41.
