An all-round performance from James McClure led Nymagee to an eight wicket win over Empire in the Senior Cricket 40 Overs match at Nymagee on Saturday.
McClure finished with outstanding bowling figures of 5/16 off eight overs and with the bat he scored 84 not out.
Playing at home for the first time this season, Nymagee lost the toss and Empire chose to bat first.
Nymagee was on top early and had Empire at 6/69 before Tarun Bheemireddy frustrated the Nymagee players by batting with the Empire tailenders to guide Empire to finish with a total of 198 runs from their 40 overs.
Bheemireddy was the last batsman out on the final ball of the innings. He top-scored for Empire with 75 runs. McClure bowled a nagging line and length all game and got rewarded finishing with five wickets.
Peter Robinson took 2/39 and Anthony Robertson claimed 2/37. In reply Nymagee passed the required total in the 27th over with eight wickets still in hand.
After the wickets of Mitch Holt (14) and Jade Buckman (18) fell early, McClure and Phar Nicholson (65 not out) batted beautifully sharing in a 138 run partnership to guide
Nymagee to victory.—contributed
