Member for Barwon, Kevin Humphries has congratulated Cobar locals, Scott Griffiths and Narelle Kriz who have been recognised through the Office of Sport’s Western Region Sporting Spirit Volunteer Awards.
“The Western Region Sporting Spirit Volunteer Awards recognise the hard work and dedication of our region’s sport volunteers in conjunction with International Volunteers Day, which was on December 5,” Mr Humphries said.
“International Volunteers Day recognises the individuals who are engaged in volunteering their time, energy and skills to enable our communities to participate in sport and enjoy a healthier, more active future.”
Mr Humphries said Mr Griffiths had received his award for his dedication to the Cobar Junior Soccer Club over the past seven years.
Mr Griffiths ensures that the young soccer players have as many opportunities as possible and is constantly encouraging and supporting the kids through their sport.
Ms Kriz was recognised for the 11 years of service she has dedicated to Cobar Little Athletics.
She has spent countless hours volunteering for the Cobar club in various coaching and refereeing roles and in her capacity as vice president of the club.
Mr Humphries said volunteers across the regions are the lifeblood of grassroots sport across western NSW.
“We all rely on the hard work and dedication of our region’s volunteers so we can enjoy our weekend sport.”
Category winners receive vouchers to spend on sports development programs provided by the Office of Sport and Recreation.
