The Cobar Library is offering local community groups the chance to run an easy and unique fundraiser to benefit their club or group.
Library manager Jane Siermans said the library currently has several boxes of surplus books and DVDs that could be used to run a book sale.
“There are hundreds of books and about 50 DVDs. There’s all sorts of books – fiction, non-fiction, books for children, even some magazines,” Ms Siermans said.
Among the DVDs are titles including The Visit, Pie in the Sky, and Smallville.
Ms Siermans said lots of the surplus books had been donated to the library but they weren’t being added to their collection either because they were duplicates or the condition (or content) is not quite appropriate for library stock.
“Some books have been deleted from our system but are still in good condition for household use,” Ms Siermans said.
She said the idea to donate the surplus stock for a fundraiser came to her out of the blue.
“I am often looking for ways to support the Cobar community – and this just struck me as a good idea,” she said.
Groups can nominate to host the sale with the successful group decided by random draw.
