Cobar Shire Council has recently procured the Cobar Grain Receival land on the Bourke Road for a proposed new Industrial Estate.
Council’s general manager Peter Vlatko said Council felt that a new industrial area would have tremendous economic benefits to the town, now and into the future.
“Council is working on accessing grant funds to construct a 28 lot industrial subdivision,” Mr Vlatko said last week.
“These fully serviced lots will be available for purchase to establish new businesses or for existing businesses to expand into a purpose built site.
“Investment in sheds and other infrastructure, along with new and bigger businesses will generate jobs in Cobar.”
Mr Vlatko said council had identified that the blocks were needed to service the strong local mining industry.
He said having more industrial land available would also allow other industries to set up in Cobar which would help to develop and diversify the town’s economic base.
