The Kubby House Childcare Centre re-opened this week with early childhood teacher Tracey Bowman coming to the rescue to ensure the centre can continue to operate.
The centre was forced to close last week following the resignation of a number of staff members which left the committee unable to operate the centre in accordance with the National Quality Framework laws.
Mrs Bowman, who has over 20 years experience in schools and early childhood services (and a connection to Cobar through her daughter, Dr Caroline Bowman, our local dentist), has volunteered to help out the centre until the end of the year.
Marybeth Lowe from the volunteer management committee, said they were very pleased to welcome Mrs Bowman to the centre.
Mrs Lowe said they were very fortunate to have someone with her qualifications and experience offer to help.
Mrs Bowman will act as the centre’s temporary director until Christmas.
“Our priority is still to employ a full time director/early childhood teacher,” Mrs Lowe said.
While the centre was closed last week, it was still a busy place with staff and committee members working hard preparing for re-opening this week.
During the week, staff took the opportunity to undergo some professional development training.
The centre reopened on Monday however it is currently operating at a reduced capacity and reduced opening hours. The management committee is working to recruit sufficient staff to ensure the centre is back up and operating at full capacity for the start of 2021.
