Kriz takes two golf titles in a week

A group of 12 Cobar Lady Golfers were part of the field of 54 players for the Trangie Ladies Open event last Tuesday.

The Cobar players did well with Narelle Kriz taking out the A Grade Scratch title after a countback from Jenny Stephenson when both came in with 77 off the stick.

Fay Hardwick was the Net competition runner-up and Chrissy Gilligan had the Longest Drive in A Grade.

Sue Phillips recorded 62 net to win B Grade’s handicap title.

Six Cobar ladies ventured to Tottenham for their Combined Open on Sunday.

Narelle Kriz had her second win of the week taking out their A Grade Stableford event.

Tina Gordon was the B Grade Net runner-up as well as the Nearest the Pin competition winner.

Wednesday’s Stableford plus Scratch game on the home course last week was a close affair with only one point separating 1st to 5th place.

Ann Dunn eventually won on a countback from Fay Hardwick when both scored 36 points.

Next came Di Greer with 35 points on a countback from Robynne Morton and Brenda Fugar.

Jenny Stephenson was the Scratch winner with 30 points and she also had a Nearest the Pin win on the 15th hole.

Di Greer was the closest to the pin on the 3rd hole.

Wild weather greeted the NSW mixed Ambrose qualifying participants on Saturday with sudden downpours and gale force winds at times which made for some interesting shots.

The winners of the day were Chrissy Gilligan and Jacob Ryan who will now go on to join the Cobar women’s qualifiers, Narelle Kriz and Jannine Wilkin, and the winning men’s team, Garry Wilkin and Peter Lawrence, to play in Dubbo in September to hopefully advance to the Bonneville final.

Unfortunately the ladies golf scheduled Stroke round on Sunday was called off due to the wet conditions.

A Par game is set down for today.

Saturday’s game is a Stableford event and will be played for July’s Trophy Day.

The weekend will wrap up with a graded Stroke round on Sunday.—T’d Off
