Junior League comp gets underway

George Wainiqolo had a good run in his first Under 8s game on Sunday at TKMO.

Cobar’s Junior Rugby League season got underway on weekend with four sides travelling to Dubbo on Saturday to contest Round 1 of the Dubbo & District Junior Rugby League competition and the Under 6s and Under 8s sides had their first games at Tom Knight Memorial Oval (TKMO) on Sunday.

The Roosters Under 12s came home with a 12-6 win over St John’s Blue with Tim Eves scoring Cobar’s two tries.

Jack Rogers and Hayden Seng added the extras with their successful conversions.

The Coaches Awards went to Tim Eves and Axel Fairfull.

The Under 10s were beaten 32-12 by St John’s Blue.

Billy George scored and converted a try, Charlie Nicholson touched down for a try and Rowdy Barton made one conversion.

Coaches Awards were earned by Billy George and Takai Cantrell.

Cobar’s Under 14s lost their match to St John’s Gold 42-6 with Jayden Paul Cobar’s lone try scorer.

Oisin McMullen added the extra two points with his conversion. Jayden Paul and Jamal Eves shared the Coaches Awards.

The Under 16s had a good match against South Dubbo Navy but were narrowly beaten 20-12. Cobar’s points came from tries to Reynold Mugugia (2) and Fraser Talu.

The Coaches Awards were earned by Ryan Urquhart and Kaeleb Saunders.

In the Under 8s competition, the first lot of Coaches Awards went to Judd Josephson and Lilly Fairfull.
