Major semi final wins by JKM Dynamic Fitness (A Grade) and Mystics (B Grade) on Saturday have earned the two teams grand final berths in their respective grades.
JKM were very convincing 53-24 winners over Pumpettes in their A Grade game on Saturday while Mystics narrowly grabbed their grand final spot after downing Real Steel in their game 15-14.
JKM came out strong in their match on Saturday and dominated defensively over Pumpettes to take a 12-7 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Pumpettes’ defenders Leah Le Lievre and Jo Carter had to work overtime in the circle but JKM’s shooters well and truly had their eye in the whole game, sinking 17 goals in the second quarter, 11 in the third and 13 in the last quarter.
JKM was also well served by Alex Hernando and Neve Carter in attack and Kym Sutton was strong through the centre court which all helped JKM to their 29 points win.
Pumpettes will meet ENDivas in the preliminary final this Friday night after ENDivas eliminated Wildcats from the competition with a
49-37 win of their A Grade minor semi final game.
Both sides made a nervous start but ENDivas’ experience (and calming play through the centre court by Nikki Davey) saw them through to an eventual win.
Wildcats didn’t go down without a fight, and they closed the gap to just five goals midway through the final quarter.
ENDivas however recovered and ran away to finish with a 49-37 win.
Mystics and Real Steel went goal for goal throughout their low scoring B Grade major semi game.
With both sides defending strongly, the scores were 1-all at the end of the first half and 5-all at half time. Real Steel pulled ahead to lead 9-8 at three-quarter time before Mystics pulled off the one point win in the final seconds of the game.
Real Steel will now play Brush Stop who beat Ravens last week, 39-30.
Brush Stop’s attack and defence both worked hard for them to claim the nine points win.
