Inter Mine golf day attracts big field of 138

Two of the teams competing in Saturday’s Inter Mine Golf Challenge: Jason Wasley (from Drill Cube), Matt Nuttall (Aurelia Metals Peak Mine general manager) and Matt Knox (PJL) with the PolyFabrications team of Garry Wilkin, Aaron Jones and Karl Saunders.

The 2023 Cobar Inter Mine Golf Challenge was played on Saturday with 46 teams (138 players) taking part.

The weekend kicked off on Friday night with a ‘Meet and Greet’ barbecue and refreshments at the Golfie as an acknowledgement to the sponsors for their generosity in supplying the wonderful prizes for the challenge.

This year CSA retained the trophy yet again with Tritton in second spot and Peak finished in third place.

The best score on the day (59 2/3 net) was from the CSA team made up of Mark ‘George’ Fraser, Alec Fraser and Peter ‘Ding’ Lawrence.

Of the top six mine teams, five were from CSA and the other from Tritton.

The Nearest the Pin winners for the men were Wayne Satterthwaite, ‘Fenso’, ‘Strap’, Aaron Jones and Scott Mayne.

Tena Blignaut, Julie Livingston, Narelle Kriz and Geraldine Francisco (2) were closest to the flag for the ladies.

The Longest Drive prizes were won by Doug Thorpe and Fay Hardwick while the straightest drives went to Mark Martin and Wan Sipatsa.

Organisers were thrilled with the turn out and the generosity of local businesses that donated to the event.

Cobar benefitted from those who made the trip with motels full and players spending up in town.
