Hot competition for this year’s Australia Day triathlon

Cobar Athletics & Triathlon Squad’s 2019 Australia Day Triathlon winners: Gumnut Gifts & Homewares’ Gifted Woman Tanya Gilbert and Gifted Man Anthony Wrigley (first finishing female and male); Red Earth Real Estate’s Real Man Chris Freeman (male runner-up); Chad Buckman (third over the line); and Brush Stop Hairdressing’s “B-Rush-To-The-Stop Woman” award winner Bianka Jacobson (runner-up female).

A group of 11 athletes braved the very hot conditions on Saturday morning to compete in the Cobar Athletics & Triathlon Squad’s (CATS) Australia Day Triathlon.

Anthony Wrigley was the overall winner completing the 300m swim/10km run/2km run in a time of 35 minutes 36 seconds.

As the first finishing male, he collected the Gumnut Gifts & Homewares ‘Gifted Man’ award.

Wrigley was followed by Chris Freeman with a time of 38.26 and as the runner-up male, Freeman collected the Red Earth Real Estate sponsored ‘Real Man’ award.

Chad Buckman was third over the line in a good time of 40.08.

The Gumnut Gifts & Homewares ‘Gifted Woman’ award was presented to Tanya Gilbert as the first finishing female.

Gilbert completed the course in a time of 44.48 and also had the fastest swim leg of the day clocking 5.39 for the 300m swim.

Runner-up female, Bianka Jacobson was presented the ‘B-Rush-To-The-Stop Woman’ award, finishing the course in 46.23.

Team Unlikely took out the JKM Dynamic Fit Team award with swimmer Leah Le Lievre, cyclist Zoe Harland and runner Meredith Broughton completing the course in a time of 47.49.

All competitors on the day took home lucky draw prizes courtesy of the event’s local sponsors Stationary Essentials, Red Earth Real Estate and Brush Stop Hairdressing
