Harland was quick off the blocks

Matt Harland has been quick off the blocks this season in the Cobar Yabbies Senior Men’s competition and has dominated the swim meets over the past two weeks.

Last Tuesday Harland recorded back-to-back wins in both the 30m and 100m handicapped freestyle events and also improved on both of his times.

Harland won last week’s 30m sprint after recording a time of 0.03 seconds off his nominated time, bettering his time of 0.09 from the previous week.

Cameron van Breugel finished in second place on 0.19 with last season’s champion, Murray Harland, third on 0.21.

Matt Harland was also well ahead of the field in the 100m swim finishing within 0.22 seconds of his nominated time. (He recorded 0.53 to win this event the week before.)

Jason Toomey, with 0.47 seconds off his time, finished as the 100m runner-up with the ever consistent Bill Fugar third on 0.71.

It was a close finish in the 50m swim with van Breugel, on 0.03, taking the points from Peter Christen on 0.06 and Fugar was again third on 0.18.

Toomey teamed up with Rhys Lloyd to win the Brace Relay side stroke across the pool novelty event with the pair finishing within 0.34 seconds of their nominated time.

Second were van Breugel and Murray Harland (0.40) and Fugar and Wade Greenwood, on 0.88, were third.
