Cobar Junior Rugby League hosted two Round 9 games of the Dubbo & District Junior Rugby League competition on Saturday at Tom Knight Memorial Oval.

The Cobar sides lined up for the Under 11s, and Under 13s matches against South Dubbo while the Cobar Under 16s didn’t get to play after receiving a forfeit.

After making a promising start to lead 6-0, the Cobar Under 11s unfortunately lost their game 46-10.

Reynold Mugugia and Kai Taylor scored for the Roosters.

Mugugia was a standout throughout the match with his great ball running while Reece Josephson’s outstanding defence and Taylor’s quick taps and darting runs also served the Roosters well.

The Cobar Under 13s were outplayed by the Dubbo visitors and were beaten 72-0 but to their credit, the young Roosters tried hard all game.

Zane Taylor’s all round effort in attack and defence coupled with Kynan Kershaw’s strong running and Eli Lovegrove, who proved to be almost unstoppable when running with the ball (in his first ever game), were highlights of the game.

Rob Josephson refereed both games and commented that all four teams showed outstanding fair play and sportsmanship throughout the matches.

“I’d like to commend both clubs,” Josephson said.
