Good turn out for CATS’ first triathlon of the new season

The overall winners of the CATS October handicapped triathlon were: Thomas Jones (second), the Just Do It! team of Shakira Colling, Aaron Finn and Tiara Ingold (first) and the TTP team of Trudy Griffiths, Tanya Gilbert and Penny Cowell (third).

There was a good turn out of 17 competitors for the Cobar Athletics & Triathlon Squad (CATS) first event of their new season on Sunday.

Four individuals tackled the short course (300metres swim/10km ride/2km run) while the rest of the field completed the long course (500m swim/20km ride/4km run) as either individuals or teams.

The overall handicapped winners on the day was the Just Do It! team of Aaron Finn (swim), Shakira Colling (ride) and Tiara Ingold (run) with a time of 1hr 26min 55sec.

First home in the long course individual event was Tristan Marshall (from Bourke) with 1.13.27; Tammy Watson (also from Bourke) was second with 1.18.45 and Martin Scott was third on 1.21.35.

Thomas Jones set new personal best times in his ride and run legs to win the individual short course with a final time of 41.50.

Second was Chris Powell on 42.33 and Chad Buckman was narrowly behind in third place with a time of 42.54.

Just Do It! won the handicapped teams event with the TTP team of Tanya Gilbert (swim), Trudy Rogers (ride) and Penny Colwell (run) in second place and back in third place was the DeVito/Schwarzenegger team of Greg McKervey and Ben Wright.
