Golfie welcomes bowlers to the greens

Bowlers from around the state including Blacktown, Maitland, Dubbo, Bourke and
Hillston, along with a bowler from SA, converged on the Golfie greens on the weekend to contest a fun Triples Tournament on Saturday and the President’s Day carnival on

The Cobar Bowling & Golf Club’s greens were packed on the weekend with a fun Triples Tournament played on Saturday followed by a President’s Day carnival on Sunday.

Saturday’s Triples Tournament had a good field of 42 bowlers with the team of Greg Reko (Hillston) and locals Allan Gardoll and Randall Hall finishing as the winners.

In second place were Craig Grimmond, Mark Fraser and Shane Carter with third place taken out by Gerard Livingston, Cole Bunting (playing in his first bowls tournament) and Michael Berwick (Blacktown).

The morning winners were Darrel Fishpool (Adelaide), Will Lawton and Jim Goonrey and the afternoon winner was David Avery (Blacktown).

Sunday’s President’s Day attracted a field of 72 players from Blacktown, Bourke, Hillston, Dubbo, Maitland and Adelaide.

The winners were the Blacktown boys – Rod Bartley, Davy Damjanovic and Michael Berwick.

The Hillston team of Greg Reko, Daryl Rees and Noel Graham claimed second place and the Bourke No 1 Team grabbed third place…Full report in this week’s edition out now!
