Some of the best golfing weather of the year was reserved for the Charity Day on Saturday which was sponsored by Peter and Robynne Lawrence.
The competition was played as a Four-Ball-Best-Ball format and there were 22 men as well as a field of 14 ladies.
In the men’s division, the winning combination of Mark Martin and Marc Quinn, with a score of 47 points, beat the next pair, Wayne Josephson and Andrew Bartlett by two shots.
(Martin and Quinn are fast overtaking Steve Manns and Greg Clark as the ‘Beagle Boys’ of Cobar golf. They are a hard combination to beat!)
Third place went to Bill Fugar and Geoff Rorke on 42, and fourth place went to a pair of honest golfers, Max Phillips and John Collins with 41 points.
The ‘Beagle Boys’ also had the two best individual scores of the day—39 points, with Quinn beating Martin on a countback.
Nearest the pin prizes were won on the 3rd hole by Phillips; 7th—Martin, 8th—Rorke and 15th—Brad Bannister. The 11th was not won…Full report in this week’s edition of The Cobar Weekly Out Now!
