Cobar Shire Council has been successful in its application for funding to hold another Grey Mardi Gras event in 2025.
Council will receive $20,000 from Destination NSW through the Regional Event Fund which identifies and supports events in regional NSW that have the potential to act as a ‘cornerstone’ or flagship tourism event for their area by attracting overnight visitation and delivering long term benefits to the region.
Council’s tourism officer Demi Smith said the Grey Mardi Gras festival will celebrate music, fashion, lifestyles and fun from the 50s, 60s and 70s and will include various activities such as a dinner dance, a music concert, a street parade, buskers and possibly also a drive-in movie.
Demi said the $20,000 funding will cover the costs of the stage set up and security costs for the main event, the Gig on the Grass.
