Former Australian Socceroos captain Paul Wade was the guest speaker at the Orana Community Mutual’s business breakfast on Friday morning at the Cobar Bowling & Golf Club.
Mr Wade talked about his leadership years as the captain of the Australian soccer team and shared tips and ideas on the methods he had found useful in motivating his team.
Mr Wade explained how many of these methods could also be used by business owners who were looking for ways to motivate their staff.
The former sports star also spoke about his personal struggle dealing with epilepsy, and the triumphs and challenges he’s faced over the years.
Orana Community Mutual Cobar branch manager Kelly Fairbank said she was pleased with the turn out of 25 to Friday’s business breakfast and hoped to be able to offer more breakfasts in the future.
“We’ve done them in the past and they were quite popular so we thought we would try holding them again and see what sort of response we’d get,” Ms Fairbank said.
“The breakfast meetings are a good opportunity for local business people to hear from inspiring and insightful guest speakers and to also network with like-minded locals, all while enjoying a delicious breakfast.”
Ms Fairbank said many business people don’t get a lot of spare time in their day, and just aren’t keen to attend meetings at the end of a long day at work.
“For some business people a breakfast meeting is a more convenient time for them.
“We’re keen to work with the Cobar Business Association to present more breakfast meetings in Cobar and we’d love to hear from local business people about what sort of speakers and topics they are interested in.
“Orana Mutual like to operate at the heart of our community and we are proud to be able to sponsor this event and provide our local business community with an opportunity to network and hear from great speakers such as today’s speaker Paul Wade,” Ms Fairbank said.
