Festival to have a fun focus

Council staff members Fae May, Kay Stingemore and Angela Shepherd dressed in fashions from the 1950s through to the 1970s for the Grey Mardi Gras community
information night on Monday at the Cobar Bowling & Golf Club. An overview of the festival’s program was presented to the group of about 50 interested business people and community members while they snacked on retro food and drinks and looked at a display of local photos and information from the 1950s through to the 1970s. Dancers from the Copper City Dance Centre also put on a performance to Bobby Darin’s 1958 hit, Splish Splash. “The festival will celebrate the 50s, 60s and 70s. It’s going to be good for business, good for the community and a lot of fun,” Mrs Stingemore said. John Peebles was the lucky door prize winner of a ticket to the ‘Gig on the Grass’.
