Ever improving Claudine takes Triathlon handicap title

The ever improving Claudine Griffiths finished as the handicapped winner of the  Cobar Athletics & Triathlon Squad’s (CATS’) December triathlon event at the Cobar Memorial Swimming Pool on Sunday morning.

Claudine posted a personal best time of 44 minutes, 25 seconds for the Short Course, which was a 300m swim, 10km ride and a 2km run.

Second place went to the Die Tri-ing team of Isaac Theakston and Molly Birch, who beat their nominated time by two and a half minutes to finish the Short Course with a time of 36.37.

In third place was the Peakettes team of Neve Carter, Chris Powell and Kelsey Neve, with a time of 38.40, beating their nominated time of 41 minutes.

From the field of 13 athletes, there were three individuals competing in the Short Course and three teams.

Die-Tring’s Isaac and Molly finished with the fastest time with Caleb Theakston second over the line with 38.28.

In the Try-A-Tri section, (200m swim/5km ride/2km run), Lenny Hill finished with a time of 43.16 and the Mabear Cubquake team (of Bobbi and Isla Murray) completed the course in 1.06.38.

The club will hold two triathlon events next month, including an Australia Day event.
