In an effort to raise community awareness of what Domestic Violence support services are available in town, an information stall and barbecue were held in the main street last Thursday.
Staff from CatholicCare, Plus Community and the Women’s Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service (WDVCAS) were on hand to answer questions and hand out information about what support is available to victims of Domestic Violence.
The local services are able to offer a variety of support to anyone who is at risk of homelessness and can provide women and children who are fleeing Domestic Violence with immediate support, information, advocacy and safety planning across the Central North Region of NSW, which includes Cobar, Nyngan, Bourke, Brewarrina, Lightening Ridge and Walgett.
The staff can also provide referrals to other services including housing, counselling, legal, financial assistance or health services and support before, during and after court.
