Cobar Shire Council has contracted Seed Business Solutions to undertake an Economic Study and Action Plan for the Cobar Shire area.

Seed’s Megan Dixon began work on the project last Wednesday, meeting with a local Project Reference Group (PRG) made up of council staff, economic task force members, Cobar Business Association and representatives from the CSA Mine and Peak Gold Mines and NSW Department of Industry.

The study and action plan aims to identify strategies for growing short, medium and long term initiatives to build economic resilience and prosperity in the shire.

Ms Dixon said in addition to consulting with the PRG, she will also conduct one-on-one interviews with targeted stakeholders in the community.

She also plans to hold broader consultations through community workshops and will speak with Orana RDA (Regional Development Australia) and different government departments about their future plans for Cobar.

“My aim is to give you a plan that people want to own and implement,” Ms Dixon told the PRG group on Wednesday.

“That’s when I’ll know if I’ve been effective.”
