The popular Wanaaring Golf Combined Open was held on Sunday with Cobar golfers cleaning up in the prize department from the 22 contenders.
Craig ‘Porky’ Dillon was the A Grade 27 hole Scratch winner with 104 off the stick.
Alec Fraser (115) was runner-up after a countback from Peter ‘China’ Brien who ended up the 27 hole Net winner (98½) with Stewart Fraser the Net runner-up posting 108 net.
In the men’s B Grade division, Dale Dunkley’s 139 Scratch score was enough to give him the win over David Gordon’s 140.
Peter Jackson was the 27 hole Net winner with a score of 98½ while Tim Morris was the runner-up on 106½ net.
Brien won the Nearest the Pin prize in A Grade and Alec Fraser had the longest drive.
In B Grade Gordon was the Nearest the Pin winner and the Longest Drive went to Matt Dillon.
The women’s competition was played over only 18 holes with Sally Bannister the Scratch winner with a score of 94 off the stick.
Tina Gordon was runner-up with 103.
Serena Fraser took out the handicap section with a score of 80 net (and she won the Longest Drive prize) while Julie McMaster was the handicap runner-up with 81 net and was the Nearest the Pin competition winner.—T’d Off
