Cross code competition

Two showstopping games of basketball were played at the Cobar Youth and
Community Centre on Wednesday night. The Rooster/ettes took up the invitation to
challenge the teen boys as part of the Youthie’s Basketball After Dark program. The Roosters fielded two teams made up from a combination of players from their First Grade, Ladies League Tag, Reserve Grade and Under 18s sides as well as committee president Johnny Dunn and ‘ring-in’ Leighton Trudgett. Much like on the football field the Roosters dominated with a 53-30 win on court one and a 48-22 win on court two. Trudgett, with an impressive slam dunk, was voted the Roosters MVP. Basketball After Dark is funded by the Alcohol and Drug Foundation and aims to help kids
engage with the community and focus on positive ways to socialise. The teens have upcoming games with Essential Energy and Cobar Tradies and are accepting new challengers.
