The Cobar Rough Stock Rodeo, an Australian Bushmen’s Campdraft & Rodeo Association (ABCRA) affiliated competition, had more than 170 entries as well as an enthusiastic crowd which made for a great day out on Saturday.
In the Open Bull Ride event, Lawson Stenhouse finished in front with 80 points with Cody Hotston in second place on 77 points while Bailee Selten finished third on 73 points.
Dee Heinemann won the Bareback Round with 83 points with Travis Heeb close behind (82) and Cooper Beeney and Ben Fogarty tied for third place with 73 points.
Melanie Goldman had the quickest time in the Ladies Barrel Race with 18.412 seconds; Bianca Canham was in second place with 18.546; and Sophie Maynes came third (18.684).
Hamish Wye won the Novice Bareback Event with 64 points with Alister Currey close behind on 63 points while Jack McCulloch placed third with 51 points.
There was a field of 21 riders in the Novice Barrel Horse Event with Laura Papatheofanous finishing in first place with her time of 18.866 seconds; Montana Jackson was second (18.97); and Jodi Kilmartin placed third (19.219).
In the Novice Bull Ride Event, only three riders out of the field of 25 finished with points. Ashton Sweeney claimed first place with 69 points ahead of Clayton Hillier (68) and Daine Patrick (62).
Riley Quinn won the Novice Saddle Bronc Ride with 66 points while Cade Rossiter and Mitchell French finished equal second after both had 64 points.
Kelly Wellington won the Saddle Bronc Event with 76 points, Jayden Sewell placed second (69) and Mitchell French was back in third place with 68 points.
The Under 18 Juvenile Steer Event was won by Mac Ryan with 70 points, Cooper Mitchell came in second (67) and Blake Christie placed third with 66 points.
Bobby Carter won the Under 18 Juvenile Barrel Race with a time of 18.403 ahead of Montana Jackson (18.74) and Grace Macgregor who placed in third with her time of 18.999.
The Under 14s Junior Steer Ride was won by Bailey Searle with 67 points over Cody Seale, Cooper Craig and Brayden Oddy who all placed equal third on 62 points.
The field of 13 included Cobar’s Talas Burke who failed to score points for a place.
Stevee Besant had the quickest time in the Under 14s Junior Barrel Race with 18.696 seconds with Lacey Besant second (18.855) and Macey Bryant came third (19.173).
Bailey George was the only rider in the Under 11 Junior Steer Ride to gain points and he won the event with a tally of 73 points.
Ella Kilmartin claimed the win in the Under 11 Junior Barrel Race, with a time of 18.9 seconds.
Kobi Bryant (19.988) placed second and Kenzie Litchfield finished third with a time of 21.123.
