Construction of Cobar Shire Council’s 88 place Early Learning Centre and a Multipurpose Hall at Ward Oval is now underway.

Cobar Shire Council’s Project Co-Ordinator Carly Hunter met with the contractor, David Payne Constructions, on site last week and  provided an update on the project.

Mrs Hunter said the bulk of the earthworks are completed and the detailed excavation and in-ground plumbing and electrical services have commenced and will be ongoing until the end of May.

“The preparation of concrete slabs will begin in June, with a concrete pour targeted for the end of June (weather permitting),” she said.

“Once building slabs are complete, July works will involve structural steel and timber framing to the Early Learning Centre, and core-filled block walls installed to the Multipurpose Hall.

“The project is still on track for site works to be complete in early 2024, with the official opening of the Early Learning Centre to happen as soon as possible after building works are complete.”
