The Cobar Auto Port has been put forward for the international Best Shell Site of the Year awards.

The Cobar site last week won the national title as the Shell Dealer Owned Gold Retailer of the Year in Shell’s People Make the Difference Real (PMTDR) awards.

The Shell awards program is active in 65 countries with over 300,000 sites participating.

The Cobar Auto Port won the national accolade ahead of more than 200 other nominated sites from around Australia.

Cobar site manager Bec Crofts proudly accepted the award at the annual Shell dealer conference in Hobart last week.

“This was not an easy award to win so I am immensely proud of our staff and indeed the help we receive from our wonderful customers,” Bec said.

Bec, who is a long term employee, has managed the site for the past two years and said her staff are their most valuable asset.

“Customer service is a top priority for us, it has to be fast and friendly—always,” Bec said.

The Cobar site also has a reputation for being spotless, with cleanliness another priority for Bec and her staff.

Bec will now represent the Cobar Auto Port  (and Australia) at the Shell worldwide conference in London in June for the Best Site in the World title.

The award winner is decided on the results of 12 secret “mystery motorist” visits and four inspections by Shell Viva Energy personnel where the site is tested on appearance, service, operational standards and sales.

“It will be great to have not only our name, but also Cobar’s, up in front of the best operators in the world,” Bec said.

The Cobar Auto Port previously won the national award in 2013 and was the best in the state in 2017.

In 2018, Cobar Auto Port employee Cathy Manns won the Service Champion award.

This year employee Tahnee Armstrong finished in the top six finalists of the Service Champions category.
