
Saturday in the local soccer competition.
After a short break the Cobar Junior Soccer Club’s competition matches recommenced on Saturday morning at Ward Oval.
The Opens game between Rock Apes and Mill Rats was a tough one with only seven-a-side. The Rock Apes scored a few quick early goals and came out on top with a 9-5 win.
Rock Apes’ points came from Rabi Phuyal (4), Ethan McLeod (3), Caleb Theakston and Mark Hibbert while Mill Rats’ goal scorers were Isaac Theakston (3), Parker Cryer and Mollyann Birch.
Chase Cavalot won the Gumnuts Milkshake award, Mollyann Birch earned the Cobar Hotbake Donut award and Mark Hibbert collected the Shell Slushie award.
Rangers beat Spurs 6-3 in their Seniors match. Mark McBride kicked all six goals for his Spurs team while Joseph Theakston, Ashlee Compton and Jack Geppert netted a goal each for Rangers.
Ashlee Compton earned the Gumnuts Milkshake Award, Ryan Jiang took home the Cobar Hotbake Donut Award and Jake McKervey won the Shell Slushie Award.
In their Mids match, Black Knights ran all over Bengal Tigers finishing with a 10-nil win.
Black Knights’ points came from the boots of Tom Geppert (4), Archie Fugar (3), Logan Cooper Knott, Nicklaus Flack Hogan and Heath Gibbs.
Polar Bears narrowly defeated Redbacks 4-3 in their Mids game with Darcy Geppert landing all four goals for his Polar Bears team.
Redbacks’ goals came from Preston Olsen (2) and Clayton Harvey.
Mids’ Gumnut Milkshake Awards went to Henry Bowman and Bailey Robinson.
Samuel McKervey and Mabel Hill received the Cobar Hotbake Donut Awards and Archie Fugar and Preston Olsen collected the Shell Slushies.
In the Minis division, the Sky Strikers beat Cornish Dragons 3-1 with Archie Myer-Ryan finding the back of the net twice and Callum Gibbs once for Sky Strikers while Hunter Hounsell was responsible for Cornish Dragons’ lone goal.
Orange Rovers eventually came out on top beating Purple Wanderers 2-1 in their Minis match with Kaiden Hamilton and Elsie Moore scoring a goal each for Orange Rovers and Jessie Roulston was responsible for Purple Wanderers’ goal.
In the other Minis game Raging Rhinos beat Pitch Pirates 1-0 with Jason Doherty the lone goal scorer in the match.
