A number of Cobar Yabbies competed in the Annual 5 Way Swim at Gosford over the weekend with swimmers from Gosford, Malabar, Nelson Bay and Forbes.
The event featured a tribute to former Cobar Yabbies member Ian Settree, with the 100m handicap event named in his honour.
Cobar swimmer Bob Clark finished third in that event.
Other notable results for local swimmers included Jarred Davey finishing second in the 50 Metre Scratch event, while John Carswell was fourth in the Presidents 50 Metre event.
Back home it was another very busy evening at the pool last Tuesday night with 23 swimmers fronting up to Cobar Yabbies Senior Men’s Swimming Club.
In the 30m event Peter Finn was first being only 0.06 seconds off his nominated time.
Second was Matt O’Keefe at 0.09 seconds and a two way tie for third at 0.19 seconds between Jarrod Marsden and Zac Finn.
In the 50m swim Scott Toomey took the honours being only 0.09 seconds off his nominated time, coming in second was Steven Clark 0.13 seconds and third Jarred “Jacko” Davey 0.20 seconds.
In the last scoring event for the night Davey went two better coming within 0.13 seconds from his nominated time, the ever-present Carswell placed second at 0.4 seconds and third was O’Keefe with 0.97 seconds.
In the brace relay it was once again an Esther Williams event as competitors had to corkscrew their way across the pool.
The winners were Andrew Watts and Luke Quintal being only 0.63 off their nominated time.
Second was Greg Dimond and Steven Clark 0.75 seconds and third was Trevor Menadue and Scott Toomey at 1.81 seconds.—contributed
