A group of five swimmers represented the
Cobar Swimming Club at their first carnival
of the season in Dubbo on Sunday.
Hosted by the Dubbo City Swim Tech club,
Hayley and Taylah Wyllie, Henry Knight, Nick
Hodges and Axel Fairfull all competed for
Cobar.
All swimmers shaved seconds off their previous
best times from last season.
Nick Hodges was invited to participate in the
Invitational Handicap event where a $100 cash
first prize was up for grabs.
Nick however missed finishing in the top
three to grab a cash prize.
Cobar Swimming Club’s race secretary, Bec
Wyllie, said she was proud of the efforts of the
Cobar swimmers.
“All of the swimmers did an amazing job
considering they have only been back in the
pool for a few weeks and COVID restrictions
have prevented club nights from starting back
at the usual time,” Bec said.
It’s the Cobar club’s turn to play hosts this
Saturday when they hold their swimming carnival
on Saturday at the Cobar Memorial
Swimming Pool.
Bec said a large number of swimmers from
clubs from all around the Western Region have
nominated to compete, including 34 swimmers
from the Cobar club.
