
Cobar Public School principal, Jonathan Harvey, proudly praised the many achievements of his students over the past year and his dedicated staff.
“Year after year, staff do everything they can to give kids the best education they can.
“They don’t miss out on anything—academic, sporting, cultural, performing arts, science, etc, the staff go above and beyond,” Mr Harvey said at the school’s end of year presentations on Tuesday.
“The attitude of the staff—you couldn’t ask for better, and not just this year, but for the 17 years I’ve been standing up here.”
Class awards were handed out for Achievement and Application; Consistency; Class Citizenship; Encouragement and Improvement.
Library awards were presented for Achievement and Application along with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) awards for Achievement and Application.
Among this year’s award winners were: Mabel Hill, Aylah Castle and Tylah Hinton who collected the Mrs Elaine Eves Awards for English.
The Cobar Weekly Association Inc. Awards for General Knowledge went to Seth Appleby, Tate Stephens and Tyson Cooper-Knott.
The Mrs Ettie Miller Awards for Research were collected by Bailey Robinson, Anissa Moyo and Sonny Stephens.
Aurelia Metals Peak Gold Mines Performing Arts Awards went to Ellie Christopherson, Claire Bayliss and Preston Olsen.
The Aurelia Metals Peak Gold Mines Awards for Achievement and Consistent Effort towards Promoting Environmental Issues in the Cobar Area were earned by Max Preisig, Corey Jones, Millie Goodwin and Corey Cleary.
The Cobar Shire Council Awards for Mathematics went to Michael Arnold, Riley Williams and Evie Cain.
The Mrs Eva Burton Appreciation Awards for Effort were collected by Tori Arnold, Isla Murray and Sophia Ryan.
The Mrs Ethel George Awards for Outstanding School Citizenship were earned by Levi Tiffen, Willow Lennon and Emma Griffiths.
The NSW Premier’s Sporting Challenge Award for Overall Contribution to School Sport Yrs 3 to 6 was earned by Charlie Miller and Cooper Trudgett was named the 2025 Sports Person of the Year.
Sporting awards for swimming, athletics and cross country age champions were also presented along with good sportsmanship awards.
