Cobar High School (CHS) students have for the third year in a row won the Outback Science and Engineering Challenge. St John’s Primary School were second on 1,125.02. CHS won seven of the 15 activities (including getting a huge score in Confounding Communications) and were also second in another four. The Outback Challenge is part of a nationwide STEM outreach program presented by the University of Newcastle in partnership with the community, the Rotary Club of Cobar, the mines and sponsors. Through the provision of hands-on experiences, the Challenge aims to inspire more young people to make a difference in the world by choosing a career in Science and Engineering.
