The Red Hot Chilli Steppers have really spiced up the Open Mixed Touch competition after their win last week eliminated last season’s premiers, King Roosters, from the competition.
The Chilli Steppers summarily dismissed the King Roosters (who finished at the top of the table this season) when they beat them 6-3 in last week’s A Grade elimination semi final.
Phat Athletes were the other team to gain a grand final berth from last week’s games with their confident 10-2 victory over CATS.
Their win puts them into tomorrow night’s B Grade grand final.
Red Hot Chill Steppers will meet last season’s A Grade runners-up, the Concrete Cowboys, who will be out to claim their first premiership after they narrowly lost the 2023 title to the King Roosters.
Phat Athletes will take on Rusty Snails in the B Grade grand final.
Both of these teams have had plenty of grand final experience, with the veteran Phat Athletes having claimed numerous titles in their earlier “glory days”.
For Rusty Snails, tomorrow night’s grand final will be their third consecutive B Grade grand final appearance.
Rusty Snails will be hoping that it’s a matter of “third time lucky” as they have failed to yet win a title.
On previous form this season, Rusty Snails should beat the Phat Athletes having won their two previous encounters, the most recent was just two weeks ago when Rusty Snails comprehensively won 8-1.
Ah but anything can happen in a grand final!
