Carpark clearing completed

Work began last week on clearing the proposed car parking area on the eastern entrance to town adjacent to the Cobar Miners Memorial park. Cobar Shire Council’s cadet engineer Reba Nicholson is in charge of the project and reports a boundary survey has been carried out to delineate land lots and an arborist, along with a local contractor, carried out the vegetation removal last week. “The works have been a point of discussion at council for quiet some time to accommodate for the need of travellers coming through town and look at alternative areas,” Reba said. The project was not allocated for in council’s budget and council is currently looking for grant funding to complete the project. The car park won’t be ready for next month’s expected influx of caravanners.
