Despite the Cobar Camels recording their third forfeit of the 2024 Western Plains Rugby Union competition on Saturday, it’s not the end for the struggling team.
Cobar & Districts Rugby Union Club president Peter Payne said it was unfortunate that the Camels have had to forfeit their last two consecutive away games to Warren and Walgett (along with forfeiting their Round 4 match to Walgett in May).
Payne said the Zone is still however keen to see the club finish the season.
The Cobar team has the bye this week but is expected to rally a side to host the combined Bourke/Brewarrina Brumbies for the traditional Friday night Pre-Louth Races game under lights on August 2.
Payne is also hoping a side will be traveling to Nyngan to take on the Bogan Bulls in the final round of the regular competition on August 9.
“We will give it a good shot.
“We are being supported by the Zone and we will make every effort to complete the season,” Payne said.
