Bowls masterclass given out in the Triples finals

The bowls team of Barry Bargwanna, Don Roberts and Kyle Roberts delivered a bowls masterclass in their win over Greg Read, Alan Knight and David Knight on Sunday at the Golfie winning the final by +7 to take the Triples Championship title.

Kyle Roberts, Don Roberts and Barry Bargwanna finished as the Golfie Bowls Triples Champions on Sunday after mas-terfully defeating their opposition Greg Read, David ‘Ooze’ Knight and Alan Knight by +7.
Consistently and strategically outplaying their opponents, making the most of wicks (when a bowl bounces off another bowl), executing deliveries with precision and fol-lowing each other’s instructions to the tee, the Roberts father and son duo and Bargwan-na delivered an impressive display of bowl-ing prowess to finish as the Triples Champi-ons.
Also played on Sunday was the regular social bowls game which attracted 13 play-ers.
Proving consistency is key, the winners of the day were the mighty duo of Craig ‘Duck’ Grimmond and David Thomas with an im-pressive +16 win over Shane Carter and Al-lan Gardoll.
Finishing with a +12 win in their game, the runners-up were John ‘Shark’ Daly and Jim-my Goonrey who were too good for the pair-ing of Doug Hudson and Karen Daly.
In the triples game, young Jaxon Waugh was thrown in at the deep end to play double lead for the first time!
His team of Gerard Livingston and Glenn ‘Kiwi’ Ratcliffe won the match with a score of +6 against his other side of David Schofield and Mike Sargent.
Goonrey and Ratcliffe were the contenders for the ‘George The Giraffe’ Award with Goonrey bowling short, a wrong bias and generally running out of bowls but Ratcliffe pipped him to the post with two significantly impressive wrong biases to take out the award.
Cobar teams will be heading to Nyngan this Sunday to play in their President’s Tri-ples tournament.—The Second
