Bowlers out on the greens in “near Arctic” conditions

After taking an early 10 points lead in their social bowls game at the Golfie on Sunday morning, Doug Hudson and John Daly (pictured above) were looking like the team to beat. That was until their opposition, Gerard Livingston and Peter ’Skeet’ Goonrey made a fantastic comeback to steal a last minute one point victory.

In near Arctic conditions on Sunday 10 brave bowlers took to the greens to play social bowls at the Cobar Bowling & Golf Club.
The pairs team of John Daly and Doug Hud-son had a whopping 10 points lead by the 13th end and it looked like the prizes were their’s for the taking.
Their rivals Gerard Livingston and Peter ‘Skeet’ Goonrey certainly had their work cut out for them but with a mighty effort they came back to win the next four ends and even-tually claim a +1 victory with the very last bowl.
The triples team comprising of Craig ‘Duck’ Grimmond, Mike Sargent and visitor Les Houghton were no match for the outstanding team of Kyle Roberts, Barry Bargwanna and Karen Daly who finished as the overall win-ners with an impressive +7 final score.
Apparently ‘Skeet’ had the best nomination for the Giraffe Award leading up to the end until John Daly scooped the award from under him to ‘Skeet’s’ great relief.—The back-up
